The Principal Investigators at Segal Institute's North Miami site proudly
conduct outpatient Phase II-IV research studies for most general medicine and
women's health conditions. Board-Certified gynecologists and family medicine
physicians specialize in a broad spectrum of disorders. Segal Institute's
recruitment success in these niche areas is largely due to the large volume of
patients seen by the clinician network at its sister company,
Compass Health Systems. With over 6,000 patients seen in 2008 at the five
Compass Health Systems outpatient clinics, many have been recruited into
general medicine and women's health trials. The patients at
Compass Health Systems have reported a wide range of women's health conditions,
including Humanpapillomavirus, sexual dysfunction, vasomotor menopausal symptoms
and bacterial vaginosis. Patients visiting the Compass clinics have also been afflicted
with many general medical conditions including diabetes mellitus, osteoarthritis,
overactive bladder syndrome, fibromyalgia, erectile dysfunction and hypertension.
The Compass
patient pool, the diversity of South Florida and its population of over 4,000,000
have enabled the Segal Institute's women's health and general medicine department
to flourish.
